MLB Hat Question

Watching the World Series, the players’ hats always look new. Do they get new ines each game?

I think MLB teams make sure no one ever wears torn or dirty hats.

They do not get new ones each game because multiple players have the outline of the divisional/championship patches on their hats. That patch is different than the world series one (longer for one) and the outline will show up from time to time.

There’s no more superstitious an athlete than a baseball player, I would be they want “their” hat.

I doubt that. Cliff Lee’s dirty cap caused some controversy in 2010.

Batting helmets often get very dirty from pine tar.

I think it’s pretty much up to the player if they want a ew hat. Some guys wear them forever, most guys seem to get a new one pretty frequently.

No better after-game souvenir for some lucky kid than an autographed, game-worn hat. Rinse, lather, repeat.

Og only knows what a Game 7 Cubs-worn hat will go for on ebay tomorrow.

The fact there will be 20,000+ will drive the price down a bit.

Teams now sell game-worn gear in the stadium merchandise store. I know the Royals have a specific store set aside you can only get into while at a game. They sold everything - the goggles the players wore during the clubhouse beer/champagne celebrations (for both the ALCS and WS clinchers), the hats they wore, batting gloves, etc. Everything’s monetized.

Rick Porcello was an ace with his normal cap. Got shelled like a peanut with his shiny new playoff cap. Couldn’t they have just sewn the patch on his season long cap?

Sometimes they try to wear old hats.
