MLB-Hot Stove League winter 2022/23

No they’ll make a new franchise somewhere. There have to be a complement of 30 AAA clubs – one for each Major League club. As they’re the A’s farm club, I’d expect they go to someplace in the west. Tucson is a possibility. The Padres used to have a farm club there but it moved to El Paso.

Tuscon would be a good location; it’s a big city, and it’s close to the Padres.

It will be a while before they have to move in any case. The A’s will have to build a domed stadium first, and close to the Strip. I know of a couple of good locations that are currently vacant - across the street from Thomas & Mack (next to UNLV), or south of Mandalay Bay, across the street-ish from Bootlegger’s.

There are a lot of large vacant lots east of the Strip, too, including a few off Tropicana. North, I think there’s still space at the upper end, past Resorts World.

Noah Syndergaard to the Dodgers on a one year contract.

Has the idea of imploding the Tropicana for the new A’s ballpark been eliminated? That would make the most sense for me.

There are 2 larger vacant lots all of a quarter mile further east on Tropicana. Those would be cheaper by quite a bit, and would keep a large portion of the attendant traffic off the Strip. That would also put the stadium close to the MGM terminus of the monorail, which would allow easy access from any of the resorts on the east side of Las Vegas Blvd.

Reports Yanks and Rodon reached a 6 year agreement.

Finally the Yanks do something to improve the team. Sign Benintendi and the outfield is set. Benintendi, Bader, and Judge with Stanton and Peraza filling in from time to time. Rizzo and Torres have the right side of the infield. Peraza should get short. IKF and DJ and be utility players. This leaves Donaldson as the weak link. Move him for something- anything.

A Cole - Rodon - Cortes - Severino - Montas rotation could be very, very good. Or they could all instantly need Tommy John. You never know, but I’m getting excited for spring.

Well fart, Benintendi to White Sox. Still, Yanks could get a shortstop and let Peraza play LF.

Our top prospects are shortstops, that is a very bad idea.

Prospects don’t always pan out. If there’s a SS out there that can play next year, that may be all we need.

I would try to land Michael Conforto on a 1 year make good deal.

Do you mean Cabrera? Oswaldo, and not Oswald? As far as I know, Peraza doesn’t have any outfield experience.

It would have been nice to get Benintendi, but whatever. Hopefully, Cashman can trade for a left fielder. Or get Conforto. Whatever happens, I pray that Donaldson isn’t the starting third baseman.

Yes I meant Cabrera. Oswald and Oswaldo get mixed up in my mind.

Cubs sign Dansby Swanson. 7 years, $177 million.

Dodgers have reached a deal with J.D. Martinez. 1 year, $10 million.

Excellent, last major shortstop off the board.

So happy to have him off Boston. The guy was a Yankees killer.
