Holy crap! After Bartolo Colon hits his best-thing-ever-in-baseball HR, Noah Syndergaard has 2 HRs on the night tonight! Some power on the mound in New York!
We don’t need no steenking DH. We got Thor.
And the Red Sox sweep Oakland, scoring no fewer than 13 runs in any game. JBJ continues to rake, to my surprise. I’m one who did not think he’d figure it out and was all for trading him for whatever we could get. Hope he and the rest of the offense keeps it up. Today they start a series with the dismal Astros.
Gotta admit, those were pretty. For a Met.
Gotta love pitchers who can hit. Especially home runs. Especially against the Dodgers.
And for one of the best baseball matchups ever (almost as good as Gott vs. Teufel), try this one from the Royals-Yankees game:

What was the final line?
It was a blow for Coke, since Cain walked.
Earlier this year Adam Wainwright had extra-base hits in four consecutive at-bats: two doubles, a triple, and a homer, accounting for (I believe) six RBIs.
He has a 1.154 OPS and has amassed 0.5 WAR as a hitter. That’s more than his teammates Brandon Moss, Randal Grichuk, Matt Holliday, and Kolten Wong.
Some pretty fancy hitting by pitchers thus far.
Colibri:
Is it possible to see exactly what kind of pitches he walked Cain on? I’d love to know if we could say Cain got high from Coke.
I’m watching an archive of the inning now. I’ll tell you in a minute.
Pitch 1: Strike looking
Pitch 2: Low, outside
Pitch 3: Way inside
Pitch 4: Outside (would have been a high strike if it had been over the plate, maybe?)
Pitch 5: Foul ball
Pitch 6: Inside
Sorry, folks.
Ah, well, sometimes the best puns are only in our imagination.
Well, anyway he got a freebase.
I’d say his control was not razor sharp.
Cain was abel.
all I gotta say since I don’t get to actually watch the games anymore is go dodgers and the giants stadium can fall in the bay permanently
oh and the braves can foad too (but that’s because of an ex bf of my moms who was a braves uber fan )
Thank you for your thoughtful and well-formulated contribution to this discussion of baseball.
Good thing he wasn’t hit by a pitch. That would have left a mark.
The Dodgers sure brought Colon back down to earth last night. They scored 4 runs before Colon got his 2nd out. He settled down, but the damage was done.
