MLB: September 2015

I’m starting to think there’s a chance that they might not win this thing…

I hope that happens for a variety of reasons! Have fun!

Now if only the Pirates could miraculously catch the Cardinals…

They’re four behind with ten games left, three against the Cards. I would call it unlikely but far short of miraculous.

My team’s three ahead with ten left and no games to have to play against the team pursuing them and I will not believe they’ve won anything until they’re X ahead with X-1 games left.

As the song says:
Go, Cubs, Go!

I didn’t realize they were playing each other again this season. I rescind the hyperbole.

Seems I’ve been quite lucky going to ball games the last year. I went to the Nats no-hitter last year. Last night I was at the stadium for Aaron Altherr’s, in-the-park grand slam. I didn’t even see that it had happened at first as I thought he had only gotten a triple, which would have been bad enough. That was a crazy hit, and Altheer is fast as all hell.

Lucky! The inside-the-park HR is one of the most exciting plays in all of baseball. Let alone a grand slam! I hope I get to see one, one of these years.

You might be right…

It was a crazy play. The CF, Taylor, tried the same catch and throw twice in a row. He caught the ball the batter before and was able to throw it home before anyone could score, I think he was trying to do the same thing the second time and it went between his arms. The mood in the stadium changed right away. Funny that it was Jordan Zimmerman bobble head night since he was the pitcher.

The Cards just can’t catch a break from the injuries. Carlos Martinez (14-7, 3.01 ERA) is out for the season with a shoulder strain.

On the upside, that makes the decision about which 4 starting pitchers to take into the postseason a lot easier.

The Jays have clinched a wildcard berth at minimum, and lead the entire AL. I still can’t believe the ground they’ve made up since Aug 1.

Giants beat A’s 14-10, on the back of rookie Jarrett Parker’s three HRs, including a grand slam.

Well so much for clinching while we’re out in Colorado. It was a decent game tonight unlike last night. Despite us loseing it was fun watching Arenado hit a grand slam for his 40th home run of the season.

Who knew that when Wilmer Flores wept at the disclosure of a possible trade, that it (along with the Cespedes/Uribe, etc. additions and the continuing Nats collapse) would lead to a division title? Stel Og Stem!

Mike Trout makes (another) extreme catch to deny a home run.

I’m beginning to think this guy may have a future in this sport.

Awesome, isn’t it!

Looks like Bryce Harper has a shot at a Triple Crown.

So Dallas Keuchel finishes the year 15-0 at home, which per some ESPN thing a week or so ago is a record for the most wins without a loss at home. The Astros are also now guaranteed a winning record, which is better than I expected this year (next year was always the target date); it’s too bad they faded in September and it would be nice to see them get into the postseason, but that one’s coming down to the wire and the Astros actually need to win a few games on the road, and they actually have the worst road record in the American League.

Batting average, home runs, and getting strangled by his own pitcher?

The Nats are out of it, so it’s safe for them to invite Papelbon to take the rest of the season off.
