What makes you so sure about Thome? Just Curious…
Oh God, I know (almost) for a fact that a couple of my favorite players will probably be named… I am so sad.
I can’t do it.
I’m curious about this from the other side. I’ve never heard his name linked with 'roids and I’m surprised to see him on everyone else’s list.
There has to be something that I’ve missed.
Jose Guillen
Troy Glaus
Mc Gwire
Canseco
Pudge
Giambi
Palmiero
Tejada
Gary Mathews jr
Rick Ankiel
Reports vary from 50 to 80 names.
No-one’s mentioned Nolan Ryan? I’m not saying he did, but it’s not impossible he might have used them to heal quicker. He played for a heck of a long time.
To give you insight into my list, I went back to 2003 and prior and looked at who lead the league in HR’s and who was also on the strikeout list. That’s the same reason why Adam Dunn makes the list. Nothing more than that.
I’m more cynical than most when it comes to steroid use so nobody is really off limits.
Funny you should mention him. He was on another list of mine in another pool (it includes retired players such as Rickey Henderson, Greg Vaughn, and Matt Williams).
As an aside, I would find it amusing if EPO was an issue in baseball.
That was an oops on my part. I was thinking Ken Caminiti and accidentally typed Bagwell. Though Bagwell’s not a bad sleeper pick!
I’m only going to name one, and I want a special ruling from Sal to be declared the automatic winner if he’s named.
Cal Ripken
I’m amazed everyone’s picking Clemens and Schilling. I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to find out that so-and-so is using, but I’m assuming (I guess incorrectly) that the report won’t go out of its way to name everybody it could name. I thought it would be kind of like cleaning up corporate America: nail a few biggies (Enron, Arthur Andersen, WorldCom, Tyco) to get the message across, but don’t nail *everybody’s * ass to the wall. Who wants to see the Dow at 5,000?
Same thing here, no? Won’t the report hold back from ripping the league and the “integrity” of the players and record books to shreds?
I have to admit I haven’t been paying very much attention. Maybe I’ve missed something. Is it rumored that the report is going to name a long, long list of well-known players?
About 60-80 people will be named, including MVP’s and All-Stars:

It pains me to present, the all Mets list. Seeing how Kirk Radomski worked in the Mets clubhouse between 1985-1995, and continued to sell drugs to players while he was based in NY, I’m guessing a disproportionate amount of New York players will be represented. I’ll be disappointed to see Piazza on the list, but I’m almost resigned to the fact that he certainly did some kind of performance enhancing drugs. For the sake of fun, I’m leaving Schoenweis and Mota off of my list.

If you’re right, there truly is no Santa Claus.
Ok, here are mine:
Brady Anderson

Brad Fullmer
Ivan Rodriguez
Rafael Palmeiro
Juan Gonzalez
Roberto Alomar
Mike Hampton
Kenny Rogers
Adrian Beltre
Sadly, many players use steroids in order to recover more quickly from injuries, especially pitchers. Not everyone is trying to get big or power them out of the park- some guys are just trying to keep an edge in a game where there is ALWAYS someone coming up behind you to take your spot. Texas-league power might not keep your job- but a bit more might keep you in the show…
I expect to see lots of injury-prone older players on that list…
Clemens
Giambi
Aaron Boone
Garciaparra
Sheffield
Sosa
Jason Varitek
Mike Lowell
Mike Mussina
Andy Pettite
In the same vein as AndyPolley, I’ll present a list that completely consists of Texas Rangers
[ol]
[li]Ivan ‘Pudge’ Rodriguez[/li][li]Jose Canseco[/li][li]Juan Gonzales[/li][li]Rafael Palmeiro[/li][li]Sammy Sosa[/li][li]David Segui[/li][li]Mark McLemore[/li][li]Dean Palmer[/li][li]John Rocker[/li]and this last one would utterly destroy me
[li]Nolan Ryan[/li][/ol]
No dice! By the rules of the game, he’s worth 431 points.
Oh, and by the way, everyone should feel free to revise their lists up till the deadline.
