MLB: The Playoffs

There used to be 1 game playoffs in baseball. Now 3 is the minimum. And in the post-Playoff season it’s always a best of 7 series.

The World Series is part of the playoffs. I have never before this thread heard anyone refer to it as “post-Playoffs.” (And there actually were a few World Series that were best-of-nine about a hundred years ago.)

Again, you’re welcome.

Not sure why you think we should be thanking you for bringing up a term that none of us will ever use anywhere outside of this thread.

Um, yes you did, post #230.

That phrase has been sparingly used in other threads, but it’s always referred to the period of time following the championship game or series.

I was responding to a post about the post-Playoff season that you may call the World Series. I don’t understand why my joking reference to it in a discussion about why it has diminishing viewership is causing such consternation.

I do find those annoying. The commentators in general have sucked. John Smoltz is a complete tool and, apparently, hates the Rangers. Everything he talks about is terms of the Diamondbacks. If the Rangers are batting, he talks about Arizona’s pitching. If Arizona is batting, he talks about Arizona’s hitting. AZ has “built a great team” while the Rangers have “pieced together” their squad.

Whoops my bad.

Does Arizona even pitch to Corey Seager tonight? Ever?

This game is pretty intense. Eovaldi wiggling out of trouble again and again, and Gallen hasn’t given up a hit through five.

There goes the no-hitter!

And there goes the shut-out!

It’s not so much that I wanted the Rangers to win as much as it was I wanted the D-backs to lose.

Thank you, Rangers!

I’m very happy that the Rattlesnakes got beat by whoever that other team is.

So long baseball. Bring on the Hot Stove.

Congrats to the Rangers. They dominated the last 3 games.

Bruce Bochy knows how to manage a ball club.

I was a little puzzled by the crowd noise since it was a very pro Diamondback home crowd. Yes there was quite a few Rangers fans there but not enough to make me hear the crowd roar and go crazy after the last out.
Suspicious I googled it and sure enough, the MLB has been using artificial crowd noise for the past 3-4 years. So lame when the majority of the crowd is looking on silently in disappointment but they pump in the sound of a stadium going berserk.

Thrilled that the Rangers are finally on top. The bad memories of 2011 are exorcised.

Also having a laugh imagining Jerry Jones watching this, knowing that he now has the longest championship drought in DFW.

Today is the 13th anniversary of Bochy’s first championship. Against the Rangers no less.

27 seasons and counting, Jerry.

No shit? That’s terrible. I just thought there were a lot of Rangers fans there. I’m disappointed.
