MLB: The Playoffs

The ‘90s Braves should’ve won more than just the one.

It seems everything the Twins did broke for them. The timing play pickoff, the play at the plate yesterday, the double plays when needed.

As a Twins fan, you’ll forgive me for enjoying your misery. The last time the Twins won a playoff series, my adult daughter wasn’t even born.

Thanks!

Correct. Kikuchi came in after the opening walk and proceeded to give up a hit, a walk, and another hit that plated a run. Then the next batter hit into a DP which scored another run. Final score was 2-0.

Well, the WC round ended quickly with very little drama.

NL East teams (Phillies and Braves) meet up in the division round; NL West teams (DBacks and Dodgers) do likewise.

Twinkies meet the Astros, while the Orioles play the Rangers in the AL.

The Braves are the #1 seed. So why aren’t they playing the lowest seeded team, the #6 Diamondbacks? I searched but could not find the answer.

Because there isn’t a reseeding process for the post-season bracket.

So then #1 plays the winner of #3 vs #6, which is more likely to be #3, and #2 plays the winner of #4 vs #5, which is more likely to be #4? Doesn’t make sense. It should be the other way around. What’s the rationale?

No, #1 (braves) plays the winner of 4 vs 5 (in this case Philadelphia). 2 (dodgers) plays winner of 3 and 6 (Dbacks).

Oh yeah. I was confused. Thanks.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Jhoan Duran before, but man, he’s got an arsenal of filthy pitches.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have forced Guns and Roses out of their ballpark!

Loved the balk. As a long time Phillies fan I feel confident that the Braves will run over them like a steam roller running over a smarmy con man stuck in wet cement. But there’s always next year.

The Toronto fan base is REALLY angry. I’ve never seen anything like this. Their own employees are freaking out on live TV (Rogers owns a lot of media.)

I’ve certainly never disliked the team more. They aren’t anywhere near the worst team they’ve ever had. They are easily the most frustrating and unlikeable.

I watched that, and then YouTube cued up this blame game (can’t embed, for some reason)

Sure, they pulled Berrios early, but come on–it’s not like he’s Sandy Koufax. When he loses it, he loses it in a hurry.

You aren’t gonna wait until he loses it? Or looks like he might? Buddy was cooking.

And it didn’t work. The move made no sense; if you are bound and determined to bring in a lefty there, at least use a relief pitcher. Don’t make a guy who has started all year, literally not pitched in relief one single time, do it.

No, I would have left him in there, but apparently I’m old school. I don’t know how many times I saw him pitch, though, where he seemed to be cruising in the fifth or sixth and BAM!

I’m not sure why it is, (though I have a few theories), but Blue Jays media and fans seem the most worked up about their loss. Rays, Brewers, Marlins fans seem disappointed but appear to be taking it in stride. The stories are all about stadiums, managers leaving, and free agents.

Those are small market teams and none were World Series favorites (I realize the Rays are always better than anyone expects.) The Jays are a big market team that spent a lot of money, and Blue Jays fans have been told this is a championship squad. They are getting worse, if anything.

Clayton Kershaw getting his butt kicked in the 1st inning. Every single D-Back hitting the hall hard, 5-0 and Kershaw hasn’t gotten an out yet.

A complete comedy show! Eighty-seven mph balls. Had one batter with five pitches, five swings. Then Sheehan (who a lot of Dodger fans wanted to start), lets up three runs.

I’m for Phils, but i live in LA now.
