MMP: How to make Gravy

OK, I don’t know which one of you snuck into my garage after I went to bed and fixed my garage door opener, but I do thank you!

Last night, as we were watching TV in bed, FCD decided he needed a popsicle, and he went to fetch one. He came back and told me the door opened with the push button. Cool! So this morning, I opened it, drove out, but couldn’t close it with the remote. No big - once I got home, I did the reset procedure with both remotes and it’s working just fine.

I was going to suggest Monday Morning Phood for our cooking show name, but you’re right - Food Fight is probably the best choice.

Tomorrow is take-out-the-staples day and bring-Bernie-back-home day. Yesterday’s dinner was made and served by Arizona Pizza - FCD had a little cabin fever, so we drove the grueling 7 miles to Leonardtown to eat. Unfortunately, that little trek wore him out. He’s going to be fried after a 2+ hour drive to Baltimore.

Dinner tonight is TBD - I have no idea what I feel like making. Tuna noodle casserole sounds yummy, tho…

No. I stumbled across some information about a coworker. Purely accidental. I didn’t dig, as I don’t want to breach the integrity of my position, but couldn’t completely contain my curiosity.

And Harvard is still very much alive, thankyouverymuch. Last feedback I got was super-positive, and I expect to hear from them within the next few days, as they have told me they expect to wrap up the process by the end of the month.

Was it exceptionally cold when it wasn’t working? That may have had something to do with it.

Woo-hoo! Hooray for Winston! Yay!

Right. Now I need a brownie recipe. Draelin, Mr. Lissar doesn’t like nuts <snerk!> in his brownies. I think he’s weird. Hey, I have chocolate dulce de leche in the fridge to drizzle over them. Yum.

I’ve got a really good one from Food Network. But I can’t remember whose recipe it was. I think Alton has a good one, but that’s not the one I’m thinking of. If you don’t need it until tomorrow, I can look for it at home. They’re really gooey and rich. And no nuts! Nuts don’t belong in brownies!

I didn’t say nuthin’ about brownies … but I’ll take some if you make 'em.

Holy Guacamole! My Maryland tax refund is in my bank account! I filed on line on Sunday. Today is Wednesday.

Dayum!!

Have I mentioned Mr. Lisslar is handsome? Not in the “I want to horn in and get in the way sense”, but more of a “I really want him to say yes so I’m buttering him up sense”.

My hands are freezing. It’s probably from all the diet soda I just drank. I might have to have a cup of coffee just to counteract it. Wait, no. I have a bowl of veggie soup that I still have to eat today. That’ll do it.

or you could go to FoodNetwork.com and look up brownie recipes…

That was me…

What d oyou mean by that?

Sorry, Drae and Rebo. Apologies.

Brownies are done. I used a cup of butter, 3/4 cup of cocoa, two eggs, some baking powder, and two cups each flour and sugar. We’ll see. They look a little cakey, which is fine, but not as good as gooey. I was going to put chocolate chips in but I couldn’t find any.

The bread’s done. I’m going to have some for afternoon tea.

Don’t Ask - I love that song. It’s been a favourite for many years. I hadn’t thought about it for a long time until I heard it Christmas Eve and got all teary. I’m such a :wally and Paul Kelly is an awesome song writer.

I’ll have a brownie too… :::Looks pleadingly in the direction of Toronto:::

Long day at work. Didn’t get a whit of actual relevant stuff done, which means that I have to finish slides for my one-hour presentation here at home, save it down to where someone can get to it and print it for me so that someone else can take it with them to our offsite meeting (this avoids the inconvenience of me stopping downtown on the way to the silly meeting). ::Stomps feet and waves arms wildly:: I want people to stop doing dumb stuff and let me get my actual priority stuff done!!!

So much for the whining.

Taters, I laughed at the truck driver recipe exchange, too. Just forgot to write about it…

Food Fight would be a great name for a show. I think we could have a regular segment that was sort of Group Iron Chef. It would involve the whole group coming up with ideas about what to do with one specific ingredient. Pretty much the conversation from last night about what Bumba should do with his spaghetti, but on TV and actually coming up with a finished product.

I’m sure there was more, but I have to finish dinner (already ate the last of the tuna noodle; I’m thinking I’ll maybe have an orange too and then some chocolate) and then get back to work. I think I’m going to watch a movie while I’m finishing my slides…

Crab legs for dinner here - yummmmm…

Incantatrix - welcome to the den of the Cool Kids! Did you bring dessert?

I made a whoppin’ huge pot of spaghetti for the tailgate on Saturday, with enough left over to freeze for Mr. SCL to take to work for lunch. I also got all the munchies for the road trip Friday, with the wine and stuff to make wine coolers to take along. I love road trips where I don’t have to drive!! I went to the feed n seed and picked up 5 40 lb bags of pine pellet litter, so I’m set for a while. It wasn’t raining when I set out to get the litter and go to the store, but it was pouring when I left the grocery store. The litter is still in the car, and I really don’t feel like bringing it in. I ought to make the cats do it, but they always poke holes in the bags and dribble pine pellets everywhere.

Tomorrow is the start of a 3 games in 3 days weekend and I’m really looking forward to it.

Now I want a brownie. I guess I’ll have to settle for leftover Valentine’s Day chocolate.

Or Mucus Welby

Wish me luck, folks–tomorrow I renegotiate the terms of my marriage. I know, neither mundane nor pointless, but I have nowhere else to put this. Seems my husband went out Monday and bought our daughter a $20,000 2006 Mini-Cooper.

Um, that would be without my knowledge or consent. Anybody see a problem here? I’ll open the floor for questions.
Other than that–it’s a lovely evening here in the southern part of near Chicagoland. I went for a walk and the stars are amazing. Is it possible to worship a constellation? (or does that belong in GQ?). If it is, I worship Orion–that is one cool constellation…

Yikes! I hope those aren’t all ingredients in the same dish…

I too thought the idea of manly truck drivers swapping recipes like they were at kaffee klatch was funny.

I didn’t like my dinner tonight. I added some more cooked potatoes and other assorted vegetables to the chicken/veg casserole, and added some “parmesan & herbs” too, but it changed the flavour negatively. And maybe there are now too many vegetables all battling in the same dish. However, it was hot, and had vegetables in it, so I ate it. I think it’s destined to become Leftover Soup soon. I love me some Leftover Soup. It’s never the same twice.

How did it get to be Wednesday already? How come no matter how I try, more paper comes onto my desk than leaves it?

I should have had some spaghetti tonight. Sigh. :frowning:

So, having had eggplant, I will try a new vegetable next week. That’s my goal. Small goals. One step. At a time…

When you get the answer to these two questions, please let me know. I don’t get so much paper as e-mail, but I’m sure the answer’s the same. And that disappearing day syndrome is really annoying.

Good luck on the negotiations, rigs. I’d say the independent plopping down of $20 thou is a good reason to renegotiate. (I’d a wanted to slap him silly!) Geeez. Keep us updated, in any case.

I have slides. Not all that many, but I have lots of bla bla bla to go with them. I’m sure it’ll be fascinating. Envy my audience. (I’ll be about the fourth speaker of the day; I’m sure everyone will be awake.) Fortunately my topic is something that greatly interests this group. They all think they know stuff about it, but…reality check time…they don’t.

Ya know, Bobbio, when I first read your post I was sure it said Marcus Welby and wondered what was funny about that. :smack: Giggled the second time I read it. How’s the Motor City? (Or are you back home already?)

I’m off to bed now…
