Moaning Sounds on Flights

Apparently multiple airline flights have experienced a moaning sound over the intercom. Here is video of the very weird experience.

The weirdest flight ever.
These sounds started over the intercom before takeoff and continued throughout the flight.
They couldn’t stop it, and after landing still had no idea what it was. pic.twitter.com/F8lJlZHJ63

This guy is a filmaker, so my first thought is that it isn’t actually happening and he’s faking it. But, it’s also being reported by real news orgs:

AA says they weren’t hacked, but what else could this be? It definitely sounds human.

The airline’s explanation is bullshit.

AA was hacked, possibly by an angry or prankster employee.

Someone at a semi-automated radio station I once worked at slipped a taped “cart” into the machine which held dozens of similar carts with music, ads and announcements which were programmed to play at various times. The “ringer” cart (this was holiday season) played a short selection of Xmas music with Santa in the background going ho-ho-ho, until Santa developed a horrible cough, started gagging and (presumably) expired.

I thought it was only one flight. At least that was what all of the news reports I saw were reporting.

I have heard all kinds of weird sounds come out of malfunctioning electronics, but not that. It sounds very much human to me, too.

This appears to be the only one with moaning. There have been other noises on other flights and one thing in common is LAX:

Pilots joining the Mile High Club?

No, but the airplane might be. It is the plane making the sounds, after all…
