Mobility Scooter Suggestions Anyone?

Well, I’m moving downtown (Cincinnati) and am a bit gimpy, so walking long distances isn’t very convenient for me. That’s a lie…walking long distances just ain’t gonna happen. So I’m looking at getting an old people scooter. I don’t need anything fancy, just a comfy chair and a basket to put stuff in.

I checked out The Scooter Store’s website. The cheapest one runs about a thousand bucks, and with my insurance and health savings account the money isn’t a huge issue. I noticed in looking at their website that all their scooters have separate chargers. Are there any that have the charger built in? Is it even an issue? They claim to get 7 miles on a charge, which seems like a lot. At the same time, I don’t want to be stuck a mile from home and no way to charge it.

Any thoughts on scooters in general would be much appreciated. Any thoughts on the charging situation will earn you a permanent spot of my Christmas card list*!

Thanks!

Jeff

*Once I start up a Christmas card list

My late wife had two different scooters (long story involving a doctor who finally managed to convince our insurance company that it was a medical nessity after we finally gave up and bought a used one). Both of them had separate chargers; one was larger than a car battery and the other was about the side of a large desk dictionary. We used the cart with the smaller battery when we traveled because the charger would fit in the basket. I seem to remember that we got more than 7 miles on a charge. I know that she would usually be able to use the cart all day before needing to recharge it. The closest we ever came to having it run out was on a trip to Las Vegas when we went about two-thirds of the way down the strip and just about made it back to our room at Circus Circus.
