While we are on the subject of analogies, think of it this way: In very rough numbers, George W.'s tax cuts amount to his borrowing $1000 from your credit card each year, giving you about $400 of it (where “you” refers to the Average Joe at around the median income) and giving the rest to those with higher incomes than you, most to the top 1%. Don’t worry…Eventually, you or your children will get the bill to pay!
Lol. OK, well partly. But mainly it’s that jshore neglected to add the required key phrase except for Iraq.
If you omit the Iraq-related things, Bush’s administration is cleaner than any one that I can think back to, Republican and Democratic alike.
I would even go one step further… even if you gave each previous administration the chance to drop their most outstanding scandal from the tally (Monica, Iran-contra, on and on), the current administration would *still * be outstanding in this respect. They just haven’t had your run-of-the mill scandals.
I look at the whole thing differently. I consider most of what Presidents try to do as being more harmful than helpful. I’m looking for the guy who will do the **least **and leave us alone.
I have two reasons for pulling for Kerry that are independent of issues.
One is that I want a stalemate.
The other is that I want an incumbent president campaigning in 2008 so that Hillary won’t. I think she’d set the cause of a non-male non-white president back a hundred years.
For Bush? He’s been mostly free trade. That’s good, in my opinion.
He, er, did some other stuff that I probably felt general approval of, too, but I can’t actually remember any of it.

WELCOME!
Heh thanks, I’ve been signed up for years and I post in MPSIMS and Cafe Society once in a long while… but I usually tend not to get involved in the stuff GD can become. Love reading it though
Re: what you said, jshore , that is a very good point as to the income tax as furthermore a part of the tax system a whole, and probably something I should have mentioned. Was just trying to give Avenger a pretty simple answer to his question, mostly.
We definitely derailed this one pretty well. At the least, we’ve proved that there’s quite the relative lack of moderates here, or at least ones that post
-K.

Or, at least, of ones dumb enough to think that anyone wants to hear what they have to say in a forum like this one.
