Yeh, otherwise Dex’s rod and Lynn’s staff would comfort you. :eek:
The rod of a mod’s used to prod
The herd from rash words too absurd;
To smite with great might, left and right,
Any jerks whose foul works leap from lurks.
Admins have a staff for their tool
Of chastising troll, sock and fool.
Their power they wield
To level the field
For honest debate. Ain’t that cool?
Purely out of curiosity, why is this thread still open, after the OP asked to have it closed in the second reply?
Don’t get me wrong; it’s an entertaining thread and I’ve really enjoyed it. I think we’ve all gained valuable insight about friendship and caring. In fact, I can say with confidence that I’m going straight from now on; this whole thing has sure been a lesson to me.
But strictly as a matter of moderatorial(?) procedure, doesn’t an OP’s request usually mean a thread closing? I can only think of once when I’ve seen a Mod turn down a request, saying, “No, you’ve made your bed, now lie in it” or something to that effect. (That was an awesome thread.)
Because I did something stupid, and stupidity is not to be rewarded. Besides, the mods and admins are having a little fun, which I certainly don’t begrudge them, so I recind my request for closure in light of that.
I do have a new question, though.
What’s the opinion of staff regarding the MMP threads in MPSIMS, like this one? Should we knock it off, or were you talking about something else?
Nah, that would be like quitting Trek Doper threads in Cafe.
I think what he’s talking about are large, unruly threads that have limited interest. Like the Diablo thread or my old Predict the Next Poster thread. When it gets to over 1K posts and only a few people are participating, maybe it’s time to close it out and open a new one that’s not so intimidating or unwieldy, so that others may join in easily.
I don’t speak for them, but that’s the feeling I get from watching their posts in other threads.
