Mitres were apparently worn by some countries’ military units from the 18th to the early 20th centuries (see this Russian example) but now seem to be worn exclusively by high-ranking priests of various churches (most famously the Catholic pope).
Does anyone know of any modern-day non-ecclesiastical uses of the mitre? Any chance of them making a comeback for military dress uniforms, or maybe just everyday civilian wear?
