I spend most of my time in free-for-all. No time to stay in one spot leaning round corners.
You might try ‘prone’.

Strange night. I’ve been out of town for almost a week so I haven’t played much lately. I got on tonight to find that every Team Deathmatch I played, I came in dead last and dragged the team down. Every Free For All I played, I won, first place every time. No idea what that means but it was like clockwork.
I’m not sure which.
I’ve been reading that hackers run rampant in MW2. They were very rare in COD4 - in my hundred(s?) of hours playing the game I only spotted maybe 5, and those may have just been ridiculously skilled players that I mistook for an aimbot. But it had built in tools for administrators to monitor players more closely (like getting screenshots as they appear on their client’s computer rather than just an observer view) to check for wallhacks or 3d maps), and then the administrator could submit a ban to a trusted list of known hackers which banned them by CD keys, which good servers then used to preban them. So if you played on quality servers, hacking was non-existant. From what some people are saying now, it’s unusual to not find a hacker in any given game session. You can’t even vote kick them if it’s blatant. What a joke.
I changed my set up to see more than four bars for the ping and it was pretty eyeopening. I can now see that some stuff I had tried to pin on hacks was indeed due to mind numbing lag. There are however hacks out there.
On the plus side I have now earned the double shot-guns, as imbalanced as they are…
The double Rangers aren’t too bad. They pack a nice punch , have only 4 shots between the two guns, so you can’t go crazy with them, and their range isn’t too abnormal. The 1887s hold what, 8 shots each, have some insane range for some reason, and are incredibly overpowered. It’s like Gears of War when people stated an online game, the first button they’d hit would be left on the D-pad to switch to their shotgun. People happily run around with their shotguns because they’re so overpowered.
I’ve been sending out invites a lot (my Gamertag is now “Phil Addio”), so hopefully, our paths shall cross.
Lately I’ve been sucking badly at this game. I started off quite well (consistently coming 2nd,3rd or 4th in Free-for-all). I hope it’s a phase and it’s because I’m experimenting with different tactics. (and because I injured my directional-key hand a few days ago)
I reckon I’d be better if I chose to be one of those tosspots who just go around knifing people but I choose not to.
Ooohhhh, so that’s you? I’ve gotten invitations to play but didn’t recognize the name at all.
You can hop in the backpack. We can carry you to victory, yell at you, and set you right.
Question: If the need should one day take me to have a play at this game with some dopers would the fact that their physical location on the planet is roughly random but weighted towards the US be a problem for lag?
I am guessing that the game, when creating a match, performs some calculations that try to ensure the members of the game are near enough to each other on the planet that the lag is minimal.
Another question: Why are people who play this game so verbally agressive? Perhaps it is age, experience, or some unique quality I posess but I am able to remain polite when I play this game. It takes a truly irritating person to make me resort to namecalling (so far only one type of person - he (or possibly she) who has killed me more than five times with the knife)
A lot of people seem to be overly agressive about very minor things: Like the fact that I run around in good cover so they have difficulty finding me. I never camp. (well I’ll stay in a hidden place if I’m typing something in chat or visually scanning an area for enemies)
Pretty standard for xbox live, isn’t it?
Is it?
I’m refering to the PC version BTW.
No idea then, rarely had any issue with the first one - but I hung out on servers generally geared towards more mature players, so it’s an issue that worked itself out. You don’t have that option with this game.
I just rented this one for a couple nights and while the airport mission was certainly tough to watch, I’m not feeling this game. If I had a dollar for every “Where the fuck is the person shooting me from?” death, I’d be a fucking millionaire. It’s like jumping in fresh into a multiplayer with 14 year old kids who’ve been playing the game for a couple years and are hopped up on Mountain Dew and Doritos. I keep fucking dying.
Not feeling it at all.
It’s not so bad.
That’s why you play with a group of Dopers or other folks. It makes life a whole lot easier, especially when you mute the opposition.
Lobsang, what name do you play under when on PC? I use my name from here…
