Mold/mildew growth

I currently live in an appartment and there is some mold/mildew growth in the bathroom. My lease is expiring soon and I’m planning on moving out anyway, but I’d like to get my security deposit back with no hassle. I’m fairly sure I’m legally entitled to it, since the mold/mildew was caused by a leaky faucet that went unfixed for several months (and by leaky I’d guess 30 or so gallons an hour), but I’d like to avoid having to go to court to get it back.

Also, what can I do to improve my chances of getting the security deposit back, if the building managment does decide to force me to go to court to get it?

Please note: I’m not asking about whether or not I legally deserve the sec. dep. back, but what I can do to maximize my chances of getting it.

Is the mold and mildew so bad that a $2 bottle of Tilex won’t get rid of it?

Bleach and water. That should kill it.

Those Clorox pens were our savior when I lived in California. My SO would have to demold the apartment every 6 weeks because it made me sick.
