money money money, and a computer nerd

10 Ten (base unit)

100 hundred (base unit squared)

1000 thousand (10 cubed)

1,000,000 million (a thousand squared)

From this point on it moves up in factors of one thousand times the previous number, not squared or cubed values as before:

1,000,000,000 billion

1,000,000,000,000 trillion

1 x 10^15 (15 zeros) Quadrillion

1 x 10^18 (18 zeros) Quintillion

1 x 10^21 (21 zeros) …unfortunately I forget this one. I think it might begin with ‘hex’ to indicate six

1 x 10^24 (24 zeros) Septillion

1 x 10^27 (27 zeros) Octillion

1 x 10^30 (30 zeros) Nonillion (which is $1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.00)

I have a few questions; does anyone else know the answers to the following…??

i) What is the next one after Nonillion (the number with 33 zeros)

ii) What is the estimated total amount (in US dollars) of money in the entire world at present ?

It would be interesting to calculate Bill Gates’ personal share of it. Also how does his wealth compare to that of the US Government for example ?

i) Decillion. Followed by undecillion, dodecillion, triskadecillion, etc.

ii) I would imagine on the order of a quadrillion. The US budget just tops a trillion.

iii) Are you sure you actually would want to know? I think if I knew I might have to get sick

Interestingly, the answer to this question is posted on this website. From SDSTAFF Dex, How much is a gazillion?
