Monkey wards, DOA.

Wow. 128 years.
Montgomery Ward is closing. They’ve been in death throes for years, I know, but it still seems kinda surprising. Only to older folks, I guess.
Anyway, before Manny and Chronos start yelling at me, here’s my question;
I’ve heard of a few of the older stores being designated as historic places. One in Oakland, CA I think.
Are there any out there in small town America likely to acheive this status? And what are the implications of being so designated?
And will old catalogs suddenly increase in value?
Or are we just going to cry all the way to WalMart? :slight_smile:
Here’s a link to their site, with an "open letter;

It’s not that we’re ignoring you, it’s just that Eve already has a thread on Wards over in MPSIMS.

Cultures change. So, now we’ll be a culture in which yet another chain went bankrupt. [shrug]

Thanks, DDG. I’ll go look.
