Monosyllabic thread

Let’s do a thread with short words, like the thread name says. I took this thought from this thread. We can talk of lots of things. It will be fun. One rule: one beat per word. (thread name does not count).

Let’s go!

Could be as hard as first thread, but I doubt it. Words fly off hands as brain checks size and beat. Not hard, but still a bit fun. Tough thoughts to check each word, but I wait for the first post to screw this one up!

That does not sound like too much fun.

Seems I am the first one to screw up, by use of darn sig lines! Crap! Why did I click that box? Why? Why?

sulks off to hide and cry

Poor Bill. I did not want this thread to make you hide and cry. Don’t cry, Bill! Smile!

This thread is not as hard as the first one, but it makes you sound like that guy from “Of Mice and Men.” Or a Seuss book. If it gets dull, we can make a rule that your post has to rhyme.

licks Bill to cheer him up Do not cry…we have all done it, hon.

And Spoon? Just for you:

I will not like a thread in rhyme
I will not like it at any time.

Mods: make it “Terse Thread!”

Have no fear, it’s no skin off our…teeth.

Hmm, so as not to be like “Unc” Bill, must take care. My sig file too has words of wrong length, so it should not be here.

:::stops to make sure box is not checked. Nope!:::

short word - long sound:

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…

(you get idea)

In the first thread all sound smart 'cos of long words but this one makes us look a bit dumb. I’m not though. Are you?

(Oh, glee, your last word has three beats not one. Fool. ;))

Why? Me no do so. Big words way to go!

Mono might make me mad
May make my mind mush
Make me miss mauve
Maul me more, Mono

Mono might make me mad

O I C it now. U R a smrtrs*!

At first I thought, “I won’t do this. No way!” Then it hit me; why the hell not? I can still make my point with words of one beat, and you can still get it, can’t you? And it’s not that hard to do. All you have to keep in mind is that two or more words, at times, can take the place of one.

That said, I find my eye will jump back to the top while I read once more the text I just wrote, and all the while my brain keeps count. Is there a word that has two parts? Not yet, I see. It would seem I can in fact do it. But I tire of this game. It was fun for a while, but now I must leave. Thanks for this wee bit of sport.

You blow it too. Grin not two like yours.

The name should be “One sound per word” thread. Not “terse”. Terse is just short. I guess the posts can be as long as need be. But “one sound per word” is the guide. Just a thought.

Good thread thus far. Or “so far” if you will. To rhyme is more of a pain than a plus, but it does make it more hard. (Not good flow there, so sue me) Oh…“It makes it more work to use rhyme.” That has a ring to it, for sure.

Dave is more good.
Dave is more smart.
Rue is not as good, but I gave it a good go. N’est-pas? (Is that a cheat I can’t tell)

Do you like the treat that is cold, and shakes when you eat it. Speak not its name for it is one beat too long.(The first beat is “Jell” the “-” takes no beat, and the “O” is the beat of the end) Green is the best, red is not so much, and the hue of the sun is just gross.

It is the way you must build up your thoughts that is the rub. Think not of the past, but of what is to come. That is the trick of it. And read twice your thoughts first, then send it out to the tribe. Let them judge if it is good and true.

Now, I need to use a big word that will just flow off your tongue. A large word to roll in your mouth. But not here. Nay, not here at all. Be well in all you do, for I must take my leave of these games. A light touch is fine, but to dwell here… that would be quite too much for one such as I. (I could say “me” but what would be the point? The thought is so out of joint, the “I” serves as well.)(Or “the likes of me”. A choice to be made, and not the best is to serve in all ways.)
Ha! My sig. does serve in this thread.

No! “Smile” has just one beat. Just cause some folks say it with two beats does not mean it has two.

Now, boys. No need to fight. “Smile” is a word that may be said with one beat, no? Two beats for “smile” is not a good way, I think.

(Go Sox! Tied zip-zip.)

Yes, Rue, your way is right. My brain just went blank while I said that, or I might just have been dim that day.

No sig this time!
– Bob

Like Dave, my first thought was:
“To hell with it. Can’t be done.”
I got a shock when I found that the task is done with ease. True, it’s not much fun. But that is not the point. Most goals are met with some pain. Is life all bliss? I think not. Charge on.
Peace,
Hip
