Does anyone have any recommendations on how to begin restoring a 1977 Monte Carlo? I have very specific interior/exterior design ideas…
Download a newsreader and check out alt.autos.gm, alt.autos.hot-rod, rec.autos.hot-rod, and rec.autos.tech they’d love to help.
Offhand, I’d say disassemble it down to the frame, blast it clean, do all your suspension mods, and paint it. Then mount your drivetrain and engine… etcetera.
Go to the library and get back issues of Hot Rod or something, dude.

Oh. I thought you were referring to the Principality, and I thought, “Huh? Looks pretty spiffy to me!”.
I take it this is a car? A 1977 that needs restoring? Fully? Doesn’t sound like a very good car to begin with
What I’m trying to say is that I probably won’t be able to help you. But I’m sure someone else will be!
I have some restoration experience, but I’ll need more info to help you out. In what condition is the car? How much do you actually know about cars? Really, if this is your first restoration, a car that needs to be brought down to the frame is probably not a good place to start. The first restoration I ever did just involved restoring the interior and painting the thing. I screwed up a lot, but the car was cheap and it was a good learning experience.
With some details, I might be able to help you out a bit more. Good luck.
