Monte Markham Alert! (especially Eve)

Eve started a thread about the veteran actor some time ago that got some attention from us ahem mature ladies, so I thought there might me some interest. It looks like MM will be joining the cast of Fringe when new episodes resume in January.

I say this because he appears in the very last shot of the most recent episode (11/18). I saw his name in the opening credits and watched the damn thing twice looking for him. He’s visually unrecognizable, but there’s no mistaking that husky voice.

I remember him! I haven’t seen him in ages, and in years past it seemed like he was on every channel.

He’s only 75?

He comes up in trivia games a good bit because he’s the George Lazenby of the Perry Mason franchise.

He also played Blanche’s gay brother on The Golden Girls. (That show could never keep the family trees of its characters sorted out- in some episodes Blanche’s parents were dead, then her father gets resurrected, then she’s one of three girls, not including the son, none of whom seem to inherit anything when Big Daddy, who was from Louisiana, dies at his family home in Atlanta- irritating, and they did similar things with all the other characters.)

Monte Markham! * [middle-aged lady swoon] *

He’s still alive? And acting? Wow.

It’s been a long time since The Second Hundred Years.

I went to school with his son. I don’t have good memories of that or of him.

I hope you mean the son–anyone saying bad things about Monte Markham will have my seconds call upon her.

(Monte in the late '60s and early '70s looked a great deal like Hugh Jackman–he’d be perfect to play his father in something)

Are you sure it was him in that episode? I’m not finding any mention of the appearance in either IMDb or Wiki.

According to the IMDB, he’s only 75. If I had to guess how old he is from my memories of him, I would have thought closer to 90.

I just checked the episode on hulu and he is listed in the opening credits. The fringepedia has a listing for him, as well as a screencap of his face from the episode:

Thank you.

Well, he played a 100 year old guy in The Second Hundred Years in 1967, which would make him 144 years old now. Maybe that’s my problem. If Arthur O’Connell was your son, you’re not exactly a kid.
