Monthly Contacts Wearability

I have worn glasses for about 6 or 7 years now. Last year I decided to try out contacts. I went to have my eyes check and everything the got me setup I wore them for a week and did my check up everything was all good. Well i wasn’t wearing them on a regular basis mostly just after work for a few hours if I went out. I had misplaced my contact case after having taken them out and didn’t wear them for a while. I recently found my case and wanted to wear them for an evening out. My question is will I be safe to wear them they were monthly contacts that should have been thrown out after a month of wearing them. I never wore them for a full month. Being they have been sitting for a year now in the cleaning solution would they be safe to wear? Obviously my eye doctor will tell me no not to wear them.

I tried something like that once, except they were about three months old, not a year. I could barely open my eyes for two days, they were so irritated. Never again.

I wouldn’t wear contacts that were sitting for more than a week in the case. I would hate to imagine what would be floating around in that old solution.

Don’t do it! While the solution starts out as sterile, it can grow all sorts of (invisible to the naked eye) nastiness over a startlingly short period of time. Remember the fungus outbreak that turned out to be linked to folks reusing their contact solution for close to a month?
