Ah. I see where you put the “sizing mine” comment in there after your asinine “cough.” Cute. Not all that bright, but I guesss it’s cute.
if all he did was change some coding (ie bold, italicize, enlarge etc, for emphasis), then I don’t think that they have a problem w/it. IANAM, of course, but that was my understanding of the rule.
as for the OP and subsequent train wreck that I can’t believe is still going on, bottom line to me:
-
for the most part, none of us can ‘prove’ who we are, what we’ve done, what we’ve experienced. Some one may be able to suggest that something that was posted was inconsistent w/either the posters stated background or whatever, but essentially, I can post that I’m short w/long hair, and other people who’ve met me can say “yes, I’ve met her and she’s short w/long hair”, but that’s the extent of it.
-
Absolutely, none of us can ‘prove’ what we would do in the future given hypothetical situations. we can saw what we think we’d do, what we hope we’d do, etc. but at no time can we prove it.
any chance that the main participants can agree to glower angrily at each other’s names in the future but to let this sucker die?
Ah, but wring, ol’ Gus has already stated that he knows what I’ve done because he knows people he says told him what I’ve done. I asked for proof. None forthcoming.
Well…before it does die, I’m posting because I feel I’ve earned the right for having spent 1 full hour on this thread.
…Seems very clear to me that:
-
Scenarios like the one being grappled with in this thread can and do occur in real life…and that…
-
Although guidlines exist, there isn’t a pat answer to all situations, so…
-
One must draw on experience and make a judgement, being willing to accept the consequences, and…
-
It is most likely that although having served his country for 20 some years, Monty probably has not in fact faced a hand to hand combat situation on the ground, and that…
-
His usual smug, know-it-fucking-all bullshit attitude has finally worn much too thin on the likes of Gus…and that
-
Although Gus has kind of maybe been a bit overzealous in his attack on the previously mentioned smug fucker, it has been ascertained that at least one other grizzled combat vet has…
-
Agreed that Monty’s apparent lack of actual combat experience is showing
So there. Now close it.
GusNSpot, please note that I’ve been registered on the board for a year and four months (and I’d been reading it for a while before that), still not nearly as long as you, but long enough to be familiar with the regular posters. Although I must admit that I’d never noticed you before this whole mess.
I think that every quote you provided from Monty was pretty weak, none of them imply that he was ever in a position to take prisoners, but it appears that I’m not going to convince you (even after I asked so nicely) and I’m starting to get bored, so I’ll drop it.
I’m also going to apologize for coming after you so hard. What you wrote pissed me off, but I should been more civil, even in the Pit.
UncleBill, I was a Seabee. You’ve probably never heard of us. We build stuff for the Navy and the Marines. In addition to building things we are also trained to defend ourselves (We build, we fight! - The Seabee Motto), but our infantry training is pretty basic so I’m sure you’re much more qualified to discuss the “prisoners” topic than I am.
By the way, I love to talk about the Seabees, so if you’re ever interested just let me know. As a matter of fact, the next time I’m watching CNN and see Seabees called “Navy Engineers” instead of our real name I’ll start a big pit rant about it and detail our under-appreciated but glorious and honorable history.
I’ve been to Port Hueneme. SeaBees rock. I was not aware they went on ARGs, though I may (obviously) be wrong. Otherwise that’s a long plane ride.
Like the one asshole, Gus, in this thread’s not enough, now we got that extreme moron KO posting.
I was in a Naval Mobile Construction Battalion, almost all of us flew to Somalia (a few members of my battalion went by boat with our heavier construction equipment). There were two NMCBs in Somalia.
There are also two active-duty Seabee Amphibious Construction Battalions, ACB1 and ACB2, one of them (ACB1, I think) deployed to Somalia.
Grizzled??? Why I ought to…
looking up “grizzled” at www.dictionary.com
Well, just my beard. I’d still rather be referred to as “The Idol Of American Youth” instead of as a “grizzled combat vet”.
shooting KO a hairy eyeball and walking away muttering
Wow…Doesn’t he have a way with words folks?
The difference between you and I Sir Monty is not in the level of intelligence. The difference is that your poorly developed psyche results in your (apparent) need to use your intelligence to belittle others. This is evidenced by the all too regular (and much deserved) Pit calls that are sent your way.
I learned from my previous behavior patterns. You have not and probably never will. That poor Monty, is what makes you the extreme moron.
Jesus, I go away for a few days and this thread degenerates into the most crusty of trainwrecks.
sheeeesh!
