Morality of extending life

One other thing - I believe if you are not an Athiest you might well think you are going to live forever after death.

If you want immortality, consider embracing religion.

At the very least it’s a pleasant thought, and the conditions are what we truely need to be able to survive immortality.

braces for the anti-religious sdmb-gang

In the above I am referring to the point in time where immortality becomes available - at that point someone is going to have to abandon all hope of seeing their deceased loved ones.

Also I didn’t cite the exact book I was referring to in the Vampire Chronicles - it was The Vampire Lestat, though to understand that book (it is the second of the chronicles) you need to have read Interview with a Vampire. If you have read the books you know exactly where I am referring to. If not - I can’t begin to explain the concepts in this series - some of the finest literature I have ever read.

Well, being dead sucks too… that’s why the death penalty is supposedly a deterrent. You can’t appeal, escape, or be pardoned if you’re dead.

Hmm, what if it were turned around? If a 60 year old man commits a heinous crime and gets an 80 year sentence, no one seriously expects him to be alive and in jail until age 140. Would it be cruel and unusual to keep him alive and force him to serve his entire sentence?
