Thanks for remembering my late wife Ayesha
Mike
When Padeye died, if memory serves me correctly, his wife The Lady Lion came by and notified us. He was young; under 50 I’m sure but I don’t know his exact age :(.
ayesha’s memory will def. be eternal. she was, is, and always will be a wonderful woman.
How could we not? She was quite a lady.
Eh. . . Cite? No evidence of it, either.
There is a little confusion on this subject.
There was a poster once known as “Dr.Watson,” (no spacing) fka “Watson & Crick” (not sure about that spacing).
A poster Saint Zero mentioned that the death of a “Dr. Watson,” who was a personal friend of his with no board connection. Note the date Feb 5, 2001.
On Opal’s Fathom board, a former member here (and there) mentioned that on Feb 9, 2001 that the “Dr. Watson” poster had died in Africa on a safari. No corroborating info was ever supplied, other than that sole message board posting. Now, one still-active poster on this board said that it was true, but he never supplied any more info, either.
There seemed to be some confusion that these two were the same person, when they obviously were not.
It’s also worth noting that there was a drive-by poster named “Dr. Watson” (with space), whose sole appearance was in this thread. That was almost certainly a different person.
Bottom line: Take this name off the list. It’s still a big unconfirmed.
Mike!
If you are still lurking, I tried to send you an email through Fathom. I thought about you guys a lot last week. September 11 just fucking sucks.
Just got the email a minute ago have been without power for 3 day thanks to hurricane IKE, posting from a restarunt with power and wifi, will write again as conditions permit.
Mike
I can confirm on this part: Saint Zero is my better half, and the Dr. Watson he was speaking of was his best friend. He went by that handle on a local BBS, and had nothing to do with the Dope.
But I can’t help with the rest.
Padeye!? Holy smokes! What happened??
(And of course we remember Ayesha, Mike!)
19th of January, 2006. Liver failure.
Mike (LionSOB) we do indeed remember Ayesha I share a birthday with her. Matter of fact, Ayesha, EJsGirl, Kyla, Bear_Nenno and I were the original July 29 quints. Since then we’ve added three or four more July 29ers to the list. I love my bday but it’s a little sadder since Ayesha’s passing. I’m sure the others will agree.
I sure do.
Updated confirmed list:
Askia
Ayesha
Barracuda
David Simmons
Dirty Devil
indecisive1
marque elf
Mimi
Padeye
Palikia
Persephone
poohpah chalupa
What?! Askia has died? What happened??
David Simmons died? I remember him being ill.
OK never mind, here’s the info.
:(:(
Dopers with names that start with the letter P seem to have bad luck. : /
RIP, Askia.
I remember the day that Persephone died. I was at work, and my husband called to tell me. I immediately called Rasa so poor Euty didn’t have to find out. She had already contacted him, IIRC.
It was heartbreaking to find out about Ayesha’s illness and passing.
Padeye was one of the greats. His expertise is sorely missed.
