More Computer Troubles from The Guy That's Covered In Bees [Speaker Issues]

Hello all.

I have inconspicuously aquired new speakers for my computer.

I had them mostly working, but then I tried to make them work better and now I’m worse off.

I am trying to get WMP12 to play music over four speakers and it is only playing them over the front speakers. I attempted to get new Realtek drivers (the 3D soundback stuff and Win7 6305 codecs) and now my video games don’t even play in surround sound. Which is bad because I had gotten them to play in surround sound before I started messing with the drivers and codecs. In addition to that, the sound test in the Realtek mixer doesn’t play sound from the rear speakers.

Little help? Use something other than WMP?

Nevermind. I got it all working now.

The reason why my video games stopped playing in surround sound and why the sound test didn’t play the rear speakers was because I had accidentally classified the rear speakers as “line in” instead of “rear out” during one of the times I had plugged the plugs back in and my Realtek mixer asked what I had just plugged in.

And I got WMP12 to play surround sound too now using either one of the enhancement options of using Dolby Digital Enhancements or some sort of fancy new driver. I’m not sure which one made WMP actually play in surround sound.

Nothing to see here.
