More evidence that not all cops are decent people

So you’re the reason Coloradans have that whole thing about Texans . . .

They are reopening the case and people are calling for Perea’s head, as well as the firing of the two officers involved.

I think all cops should be wired with a small camera. All arrests and interactions with the public should be recorded.

So, let me see if I have this straight: Perea says that DeHerrara had pushed a P.O. a few minutes earlier. Not only were there no witnesses to this, and there are witnesses to say it didn’t happen, but if it did, the cops just left him to stand there and place a call or just walk away? Not very likely

Perea, you are not a very good liar – or human being. Especially if you don’t fire or, at the very least, discinpline all those who have participated in the cover-up. Oh, wait, at this point, that would be you too.

Heh, no. Try Summit County for that. I miss the Dick Lamm Colorado, that was a fuckin’ STATE, ya know?

“I am a civilian,” Perea, a career law enforcement officer and former Secret Service agent, told those attending the Thursday meeting after advocates said they feared he did not understand he was supposed to protect the public, not side with the police union. “I am not part of the blue cloth.”

Those attending shook their heads in disbelief at several junctures. One woman whispered to another, “He’s such a cop.”

Others laughed and groaned when Perea told them: “I do not believe that young man’s civil rights were violated.”

Denver Safety Manager resigns Just an update. Now, the officer that assaulted that fellow on the cell phone should be next.

And another -

Looks like someting else is up too.

Yep.

Remember, Denver has been a really bad place to get arrested for a long time before this: 1961 article in Time magazine.

Surprisingly, they won’t release the video.

Not the best idea.

I posted on another thread that I don’t like the Metro Toronto cops for a variety of reasons, but for them to more inline with community policing, then they should be able to officially ignore what should be an infraction. I think that they well on their way to becoming an army of occupation, but the folks that I blame for that are the politicians and not the actual officers themselves.

The fact that we intake a couple of hundred alpha males a year to join the vaunted force, it surprises me little that this sort of thing happens, among other things, we pay these folks to walk into a brawl and break heads. What is surprising is that these officers would normally be posted to that jurisdictions fort apache, yet they are being released into the general population.

Declan

1961? Tasers weren’t developed until 1969 and didn’t get practical application until the mid 70’s.

1961 and a *female *deputy?

No, two different stories, bozo.

My bad for not making it clear that the quote referred to enipla’s post about the recent jail death.

Really, you googled taser, but couldn’t bother to read the old Time article?

I was confused too. And I tried to read the Times article, but it just keeps locking up my browser.

Again, sorry about that.

This would have been excellent advice for the police to have followed.

It’s Time, not the Times.
