Any suggestions for good summer/beach reads?
I just read Jeffrey Small’s epic suspense novel, “The Breath of God” on my last trip to the beach (thrilling, page-turning read, btw).

I’m halfway through the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. Enjoying it quite a bit, and looking forward to the American movie of the first one, out in December. The protaganista is awesome, the reading good and relatively fast-paced, and the details of Swedish living interesting to me, as I know diddly; wish I had a couple days off on a beach to just rip through them.
Thanks Taoist. I read the trilogy last summer–definitely gripping and fast-paced–Enjoy the second half!
I,too, enjoy learning about new places, traveling vicariously through books. “The Breath of God” took me to India and Bhutan–two places I’d love to journey to in the future!
Sounds like that will be the next one on my list then I tend toward fantasy-based stuff, and humourous stuff, or mathematical stuff…trying to think of some that aren’t fantasy that might be worth a look.
Humourous, blasphemous, awesome = Lamb by Christopher Moore. I also recommend Coyote Blue by the same author. The last was my first read of him, and the first is my favorite.

River God, by Wilbur Smith, is a GREAT anthropological fiction centered around ancient Egypt. I really, really enjoy this book. It’s a good story and a great read and one of those books that makes you feel like you might have learned something when you’re done. River God - Wikipedia
Yeah, I’m about halfway through the second one, and going nuts about the way they don’t tell you what’s happening with Lizbet, just that everything is going on around her, grrr! Great move, especially as by then one’s quite invested in the character.
