Any chance of more smilies?
I would particularly like thumbs up and thumbs down, and a laughing smilie.

Laughing smiley? Isn’t good enough for you? (;))
Generally speaking, I’m not a big fan of masses of different smilies–and I detest animated smilies–but thumbs-up and thumbs-down seem fairly benign.
(speaking just as a member, not as a moderator)
Not really. I use it at the moment but I would prefer just to use it for grins.
We could have more similes instead.
We could do what we did before–Have Dopers design their own and everyone vote on the one (or two) we like best.
Metaphors be with you.
I’d like to make a counter offer. Get rid of all the smilies. They displease me.
I’d settle for just getting the happy jewish man smiley back. I don’t know the history behind why it was here in the first place, but I miss it now that it’s gone.
Him and Mr. Smashy would be good.
I just posted in another thread that we need a “maple leaf” smiley for when Canadians want to get “in your face” about it…
This is one of the problems. Some people love smilies, and others hate them. Personally, I’d prefer to have a few more smilies, but for the most part, just the ASCII smilies can usually convey whatever’s necessary.
A frowning hockey puck?
Hey, I could live with that.
Here you go:
I agree with Lynn that there will always be this dispute. I’m not a big fan of them but they do come in handy when being sacastic or joking as they convey intent that black and white words don’t. What I don’t understand is, if you are going to have them at all why not add more?
OOOH. Awesome! That’s just the “puck” I was looking for…
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
I love it!!!
Any other expat Canucks, out there, let’s use this one, if they won’t give us a maple leaf…!!!one!!!elebven!!!
It would probably resemble Don Rickles.
Because they start being used as a crutch. This is the SDMB - use your words.
If someone takes this as a “Puck you,” are we getting into a grey area?
