Most achingly beautiful songs ever

I prefer Johnny Cash’s dirge-like take on it myself.

This post just reminded me that I haven’t yet mentioned this Bing Crosby version of “Silent Night”, which never fails at making my eyes well up with tears and my lower lip tremble.

I had a hunch that his thread might be in record territory, so I looked for all threads with the word “songs” in their title and here are the top ones, ranked descending on “number of replies.” Another search for the singular “song” produces some with more replies, but this is still a success story.
