Noam Chomsky: Donald Trump could stage false-flag terror attack to maintain fanbase amid failing policies
In order to maintain his popularity, the Trump administration will have to try to find some means of rallying the support and changing the discourse from the policies that they are carrying out, which are basically a wrecking ball, to something else.
Maybe scapegoating, saying, ‘Well, I’m sorry, I can’t bring your jobs back because these bad people are preventing it.’ And the typical scapegoating goes to vulnerable people, immigrants, terrorists, Muslims and elitists, whoever it may be.
We shouldn’t put aside the possibility that there would be some kind of staged or alleged terrorist act, which can change the country instantly.
Trump can’t think of anything beyond 140 characters, much less plot a planned disaster.
I agree entirely.
However, that wouldn’t keep him from seizing upon a plan devised by someone with a better-working brain.

The timing’s wrong and you’d need a bigger body count. This was probably just a shredder overheating. But to everybody pooh-poohing this, just remember. Conspiracies don’t have to make sense to you and me. They just have to make sense to the conspirators.

Meh. This is back-page news.
I haven’t seen any administration source (so far), especially the Tweeter in Chief himself, claim that this was anything other than an accidental fire. So, meh.
Hey, the burning of the 50th floor of Trump Tower is very important to the good upstanding folks on the adjacent floors. Like the money launderer on the 51st floor and the bank fraud guy on the 49th floor.
Jesus, is being a criminal a requirement to live in that building?
Damn, should have sent that guy bigger matches. Live and learn.

Sherrerd:
They have to be getting pretty desperate over at the White House. Mike Flynn is apparently ready to sing like a canary–we know this because Trump’s best buds over at the National Enquirer are attacking Flynn:

So, Bannon needs to get a MAJOR distraction up and running, or the Trump Train is going to be heading out of power and possibly into a long stint of federal prosecution and, potentially, convictions.
Whatever they come up with has to be believable, or it will simply lead to MORE investigation …whatever gets attacked, either by actual Muslim patsies (carefully set up and aimed) or by operatives pretending to be Muslims, has to be something that most Americans will assume Trump would never agree to have destroyed.
What better than the New York City Trump Tower–symbol of the man himself, and home of his wife and child?
I gotta say, this is the longest lag time between “desperation” and execution of the plan that I’ve ever seen.
Speaking of “Desperate” - Trump Tower doesn’t have sprinklers. Donald thinks it’s too expensive and unnecessary.
Early talks for the proposed bill suggested that all residential buildings be required to install sprinklers, which irked developers, including Trump.
The future president backed off on panning the proposal after it was tweaked to grandfather existing buildings — such as Trump Tower — or structures for which building permits had already been filed, such as the Trump World Tower. Construction on the 72-floor building opposite the United Nations began in 1999.
He ultimately spent $3 million on sprinklers for his Trump World Tower.
Even then, Trump admittedly failed to see the purpose that sprinklers served in high-rise buildings like his own.
“People feel safer with sprinklers,” Trump said, according to the Times. “But the problem with the bill is that it doesn’t address the buildings that need sprinklers the most. If you look at the fire deaths in New York, almost all of them are in one- or two-family houses.”
<snip>
The fire that erupted inside Trump Tower on Saturday killed art dealer Todd Brassner at his 50th floor pad, where the law never mandated sprinklers to be equipped.
FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said at a press conference that even though building’s residential units lacked sprinklers, the building “stood up quite well.”
Trump mirrored Nigro’s remarks in a tweet that applauded firefighters, before news of the fatality surfaced.
“Fire at Trump Tower is out,” Trump tweeted. “Very confined (well built building). Firemen (and women) did a great job. THANK YOU!”
Sounds like the desperation is just getting started.
And a man is dead because of it. (Will Trump EVER mention him?)
For those wondering what a false flag looks like: the perpetrator has to claim ‘terrorists’ or other enemies created the damage. So, no: this incident isn’t a false flag attack. (TT would still be a good venue for one, given that most Americans STILL don’t know that Trump doesn’t own it. But that’s not what this was.)

Well, living in that building DOES require a great fortune; and I believe it was Honoré de Balzac who is credited with stating: Behind every great fortune, there is a crime .
So, connect the dots.

So… Trump really DID kill somebody on 5th Avenue!
