Norah Jones
Doro Pesch and Lita Ford, of course!
I’m sure she’d sing just for you, Caneknife.
Before I even realised I was a lesbian, I had the serious hots for Natalie Imbruglia in this music video. Maybe it’s her I have to thank.
In no particular order:
Susanna Hoffs
Olivia Newton-John
Britney Spears
Whitney Houston
And no question about Jessica Alba.
Naomi Judd was quite beautiful in her prime.
It’s difficult to say. I mean of course Olivia Newton-John is beautiful… inside & out just as you’d expect. No problems there.
The trouble comes up when you think of one or two more current artists… and when you think someone is really beautiful… and you find out through an unimpeachable source that they are nothing but grease-paint on an -sshole.
Imagine having a good friend who works in the service industry… someone with no reason to lie to you and who never has. Someone who interacts with some of these beautiful women. He’s a nice guy, never rubs anyone the wrong way & is good at his job. Now imagine learning that this beautiful artist, because she could, just acted out and was the single biggest -sshole to that person and for no reason other than she was bored and she could get away with it.
No, it wasn’t Olivia Newton-John; as I said Olivia Newton-John is just as beautiful inside as she is on the outside.
This other person on the other hand, though pretty, is just a walking talking case of shitty personality disease.
< No name listed, because of course she’d sue. ( and no f-cks given when your own bad things come back to you ) >
Well, if the source is unimpeachable, that’s different.
Seriously, it sounds like you live in a world inhabited by demons and saints.
Who knows what the fuck happened? What’s the point?
Well finally you and I agree on something! ![]()
I was 13 years old when I saw Bye Bye Birdie! Almost life-changing!
ETA: And I see now you linked to the very same Youtube!
Wait, are we talking beautiful, pretty, cute, or fuckable? Because it’s all slightly different!
In other news: Straight Dope for Men continues apace.
Well, if you have skin in the game, why not just call me a liar and be done with it?
Here-ye…! Here-ye…! Be it known to all that there is no musician in all of the industry, let alone a woman, suffering from sh-tty personality disorder…
or who could ever be described as ‘just an -sshole covered in grease paint’.
I must be lying, because that just isn’t possible, is it?
No, I live in a world filled people who know their worth isn’t judged by bank accounts or their % of the gate. Real people who know better than to abuse others just to appease their ego
or to try to look big in front of their minions.
Point? Who said what I wrote was for you? Maybe it was just for me.
(I’ll look into getting that blog, thanks!)
You are absolutely correct. I posted 3 nominees and completely overlooked Carly.
mmm
Yeah, what guy didnt like that braless photo.
I would add on the 2 women of ABBA.
I will admit to the objectification. I won’t accept that this is exclusive to men. Beauty ought to be objective, and with opinions and tastes across the gamut of gender.
Keeping my list short, but seconding Shakira. Also Gladys Knight, at any age.
Lauryn Hill was stunning.
I don’t take any offense at this, but I disagree. One’s attitude toward beauty can include objectification of the person considered beautiful, and often does, since we are as a species hard-wired to mate with partners who will help us produce viable offspring.
But it doesn’t have to, and in fact there are plenty of people who don’t objectify (I know a few, both male and female).
As Roald Dahl said, “A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”
Okay, carry on.
Considering the operative word “history”, go back an look at Dinah Shore. Still looks good, by the standards of 60 years later.
On that same note, do you remember the group “The Mamas and the Papas”? Well included in that group was one woman who was a great singer but who was overweight and not so attractive and the groups leader was being pressured by executives to fire her and hire someone better looking.
He turned them down saying she was a part of the group and they all should be accepted. I’m glad he did.
Sheryl Crow
Rachael Price of Lake Street Dive is quite a fetching young woman with a magnificent voice, her own sense of style, and an engaging stage presence. I saw them for the first time a couple of months ago, and while the band as a whole is extremely talented, I couldn’t keep my eyes off Ms. Price.
