Most caloric food

Which single food (not some casserole obviously) has the most calories?
I’m trying to gain weight and I’d like to eat it.
I’ve heard brazil nuts are in the running.

Fat has the most calories per gram, so go for fatty stuff - sticks of butter oughta help you gain weight.

yes, but that would probalby upset anyones stomach!

Edible (not like a stick of butter, or cup o’ lard - sarcasm aside)

Entemanns chocolate chocoloate donuts. Ounce for ounce, it’s hard to top these. I’ve seen them listed as the single deadlisest food calorie source several times.

Fast food: Whoppers, Big Macs…again, very hard to top these.
Ribs, bacon, and Fried Chicken: Again, very very hard to top these.
Tought to top any of these, especially with something truly edible.

Whatever comes in the largest serving size.

If you mean most calories per gram of food, as Athena said, pure fat would be it. Or anything completely soaked in oil, like french fries. I’ve heard that the fast food with the most calories per serving is “fried potatoes with cheese and ranch dressing” or something like that.

Yes, I’ve heard Wendy’s triple cheeseburger is over 2,000.
However, thats not a Single food, its a couple together.

Well, then:

any pork product with lots o’ fat…

ribs
bacon
Aside from eating pork fat straight in a block of lard, you are going to have to eat something considered “food”, and that prety much leaves pork products that are mostly fat as the winners. heck, a real crappy block of bacon is still ‘edible’ …still a food item, but packs in thr fat like nothin else.

Find the worst cuts of bacon (whole slabs are available at butchers) and cook at minimum heat, keeping the fat in, and enjoy.

Pork fat is your friend, because it can be easily obtained in the food types I’ve mentioned, yet is still a food item.

I mean, how much muscle tissue do you need mixed in with the fat before you consider it food? Pork is the answer because you can easily get little muscle tissue (protein) making it ‘a food item’ and maximum pork fat, which it THE way to fly for calories density!

Hmmm… I guess I’m the only person who could happily eat a stick of butter every day. Maybe not by itself, but on just about anything. Pastries with butter on 'em, popcorn with butter, vegetables with butter… the list goes on…

My guess would be blubber. Try the Inuit section of your local Piggly-Wiggly.

I recall that some team attempting to cross Antarctica consumed “Lard Popcicles” to keep their energy up. Disgusting, but prudent.

Peanut butter?

If you want healthier calorie-rich food ideas than fried food and lard, here are some:

Bread, fruits, meat, nuts, eggs, milk

A good web resource is http://www.eatright.org/nfs/nfs10.html.

pork fat…lard…fat back…all can be seasoned and eaten.

You can also get chocolate covered pork fat squares:

While fat is dense in calories, eating it is not necessarily the fastest way to gain weight. Highly glycemic (sugary) foods that raise insulin levels and still leave you hungry in a short while would be better. Of course this is incredibly unhealthy. How old are you if you don’t mind me asking and are you female? No, I’m not gonna try and pick you up.

Try this - a chocolate, peanut butter, and honey triple-deck sandwich.

Actually I heard the bloom’n onion has over 2000 calories, and cheese fries are up over 1000. Outback can really make you hefty if you aren’t careful…

And don’t forget chocolate. While it may not get first place purely in terms of calories per given weight, in terms of one’s capacity to carry on consuming it, it probably comes near the top of the list. It’s very addictive naturally and, as many of us know, the manufacturers actually insert a secret chemical that warps the brain, melts defences, kerpows common sense and encourages you to just keep on eating the stuff.

More seriously…

What you want to do is eat fat and fatty foods. AlaItalia’s list is way off target because it’s from a site about eating properly, not eating to gain weight. Carbohydrates (bread, rice, pasta, potatoes) won’t let you gain weight as quickly as the fatty stuff, and protein (fish, meat) won’t do it at all. The two main sources of fat are all the dairy products, and the oil and fat we fry stuff in. So dairy products and fried food are your allies in the quest to gain weight. Fried chocolate bars (as served in Scotland on a routine basis) are therefore a strong bet.

I’d also think that the fastest way to gain weight would be to eat a lot of sugar. It actually makes you more hungry believe it or not, plus eating enough would put a few more pounds on you.

Vanilla it is very important to consider how much weight you wish to put on, and if you wish to be able to lose that weight again easily.
Though fat is very high in calories, the risk of excessive cholesterol intake is dangerous (it can lead to Gall stones for instance). Also important to ensure you get a good healthy intake of vitamins/minerals as well. My best advice would be eat what you would usually eat (if that is healthy) and add your prefered comfort food between meals.
Cheers, Keithy

I’m 44, female, 5 foot 10 inches and 130 lbs.
Sugar eh? I’d be brushing my teeth 10 times a day!
