Most famous example of each dog breed

D’oh! How did I miss The Hook’s post? :smack: :smack: :smack:

Cocker spaniel - “Lady” from Lady and the Tramp.

Well, with one head, anyway.

But the most famous Corgis are probably those belonging to the queen of England.

After Cowboy Bebop was shown on cartoon network, I heard of people reacting to Welsh Corgis with cries of “EEEEEEEEE! It’s EIN!!!” And I believe my sister’s friend, whose family has Corgis, was describing them as “Welsh Corgis, you know, like Ein in Cowboy Bebop” for a while. So I suppose it depends on whether one is more familiar with anime or with British royalty.

Dobermans: Zeus & Apollo (Magnum PI)

Basset hound: ??? Don’t remember the name, but Colombo had one in several episodes.

Beagle: Porthos from Voyager.

Poodle. Ought to be a famous one (they’re really smart and trainable) but the best I can do is Josephine from "Not Tonight, Josephine by Suzanne What’shername who wrote Valley of the Dolls.

There’s a dingo in “Road Games”, but I’m not sure how famous that is, or even if it counts as a dog breed.

Maybe for older folks, but these days, it’s probably Beethoven.

Scottish Terrier - FDR’s dog “Fala”; the Monopoly™ token; Dubya’s dog

Jack Russell Terrier - Wishbone; The Captain’s dog in “Crimson Tide”

Reality Chuck
If you are talking about “Topper”, the TV show from the 1950’s then the
Saint Bernard “Neil” was portrayed by “Buck”.

And Sergeant Preston’s dog “King” was either a husky or a malamute.
Well King, this case is closed.

I think the most famous dingo would be the one that allegedly kidnapped Azaria Chamberlain. However, he or she remains ever elusive, so is not useful for visually describing a dingo.

The dog’s name was Dog. Lt. Columbo never gave him a name, which figures since Columbo’s first name was never revealed, either.

The character of Dog was introduced in Columbo’s second season. Despite the show’s success, the executives of NBC thought that every T.V. detective needed a sidekick. Levinson and Link, the show’s creators, complied with Dog - a sidekick who never did anything.

The most famous Husky is probably Balto, the lead dog of a team that in 1925 carried diptheria serum from Anchorage, Alaska to Nome. The feat is memorialized in the annual Iditarod race.

Quiche Lorraine came to mind

Pit bull: variable. Basically it’s whichever one most recently ate a child.

Nimrod, from the movie version of Tarka the Otter, is probably the only time many people have seen an Otterhound.

I want one. Such a lovely ugly dog.

Rufus, I think is the most famous example of the Brittany.

Unfortunately for me, all breed spec Brittanies look odd to me. I grew up with a great dog in my family, who was a Britt, but he was… umm… 2 inches taller than breed spec, 20 pounds heavier, and had a head that didn’t look too small for his body. A very beautiful dog, but not conforming to the breed spec at all. sigh And a true bird dog: Chicken.

Or London, the dog from the Littlest Hobo

Expertly Engineered Genius Intergalactic Robot Dog:
K9 from Doctor Who.

Akita – The “OJ Dog” who someone heard release a plaintive wail.

Mog- “Barf(olemew)” from Spaceballs

Uhh…excuse me, what part of Cujo do you two not understand?

You’re thinking of the wrong dog - Fluffy is the one with three heads. Fang is Hagrid’s regular pet dog who lives in his hut with him.

briard - Buck the dog from Married with Children

Millie, GHW Bush’s Springer Spaniel.

Nixon had an Irish Setter, King Timahoe (don’t know if I spelled that right).

Tramp from “My Three Sons” was an Old English Sheepdog as was the dog in the Disney movie “The Shaggy Dog.”
