Most Famous Person With Your Family Name

The most famous person with my last name is fictional–a ship’s captain in a series of nautical tales.

Judging by Wikipedia, no one of especial note. Add on ‘-son’ and you get some very famous people indeed.

A first lady and cartoon wife.

An American country piano player and a Swiss mathematician (there’s a rule discovered by and named after him that I learned in college).

Hidalgo.

A former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback.

From Wikipedia, an American educator, counselor, motivational speaker and author who has hosted a number of PBS television …

Fictional: One of the ladies of “Sex And The City.”

Geographical: A small mountain range in Arizona

No known relation of any of the above------

Well, now we know the origin of your screen name.

Mel Gibson. Or Joshua Gibson (my first name is also Joshua).

Is anybody else trying to figure out the last names from the hints given?

LouisB I think I’ve got.

I have a pretty unusual last name. I’ve never even met anyone I wasn’t related to who had the same last name as me, much less heard of anybody famous with it.

I was surprised recently to find out that the main character in a popular video game has my last name, so I guess that would be it.

Which hint gave it away?

An Olympic gold medalist is about it.

Regards,
Shodan

One of my relatives is a stand-up comedian who’s enjoyed a moderate degree of professional success - he gets on Comedy Central occasionally.

The first suggested it, the third clinched it, and then “oh cool, there’s a mountain range, too.”

Mine is a pretty famous singer/songwriter but not sure if he really counts because he changed his last name.

I share my last name with a pretty significant figure of the American revolution.

The leader of a failed revolution in Hungary during the Cold War.

A comedian/TV host whom I don’t like at all.

A Nobel Prize winner in economics and a columnist for the New York Times.

The first American to orbit the earth.
