The only celebrity I can think of -without googling- with the same starting letters is Garo Yepremium -the field goal kicker for the Miami Dolphins from the early '70’s who is immortalized with a spectacular blooper reel highlight during Super Bowl 7. (Kick was blocked, Yepremium gets the ball tries a girly-man throw downfield when it is intercepted and run back for a touchdown).
Anyway. I submit he is the most noteworthy -if not only- famous person with whom I share initials and thus I propose the following:
Think of the most famous person from any field or endeavor- throughout the course of history -real or imagined- who shares your initials and post it here.
If someone disagrees pointing out that person X is much more famous- he or she should let you know. And of course there will be no googling in any form.
Oy. I was thinking only first and last name. I mean there can’t be too many matches of complete monograms wherein the famous person you cite is known mainly for going by his/her full name like Haley Joel Osment or Edgar Allan Poe so first and last names only.
And for twickster, John Wayne immediately sprung to mind.
Nitpick: His surname is Yepremian. Other “GY” people I can think of are Gig Young (actor) and George Yardley (early NBA star), but Garo probably has more name recognition today than do either of my additions.
My initials are RK. Since my first name is Robert, my immediate thought is Robert Kennedy. He might not be the best-known worldwide, but I’d hope he’s ahead of Richard Kline, who played Larry on Three’s Company.
Neither of the two people I can think of who share my initials go by their full first name – both use nicknames that mess up the initials. Edward (Ted) Kennedy and Eugene (Gene) Kelly. I feel personally affronted by their use of nicknames, now.
