Most honest country?

So I lost (and found) my wallet again. Since I’m in Australia I lost my wallet 3 times (in 3 months) and each time it was brought back to me, with money and all.
Today, as I was sitting outside, relieved, and thinking how honest Australians are, I was thinking that in other countries people take your stuff directly from your pocket, and don’t wait for you to leave them there, and wouldn’t even think of bringing it back…

So that got me wondering if there ever was any serious study done as to find which country is the most honest. Where people don’t lie and don’t steal and where people go great lenghts to give your stuff back…

I heared a lot of good things regarding asian countries (and a lot of bad regarding south american and east european), but is there any real research done into that?

Please, no ‘interesting’ personnal accounts (unless its really relevant) because I don’t want this thread moved…

I remember reading a newspaper report (or was it a Reader’s Digest article?) regarding the OP. IIRC, a test was carried out, in major cities all over the world, by leaving wallets in selected public places and watching for the reactions/results from hidden locations.

Unfortunately I have neither a cite nor do I remember the result of that survey. I vaguely remember which country came out on top, but since it’s a WAG at best, and you want only facts, I won’t mention the name.

I do however know that it wasn’t mine
