Most Influential Lesbian/Bisexual Women Couple - Pre 20th Century

Here’s a question: in history, who was the most influential lesbian couple?

Influential any way you like - on politics, on culture, on science.

Only caveat, to make the topic challenging: has to be pre-20th century … that is, before lesbianism/bisexuality in the West became widely acknowledged.

Of course, this leaves open what consitutes a “lesbian couple” … as lesbianism wasn’t often acknowledged as even existing.

My pick - Sarah Churchill and Queen Anne of England. Both were, of course, married to men. However, it is pretty clear that Anne had a hardcore, and not entirely platonic, crush on Sarah. They were hugely influential of course - it was through Sarah’s influence on Anne that her husband, the future Duke of Marlborough, became allied commander in the War of the Spanish Succession.

Their falling-out was just as epic …

Well, dang can’t do Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena Hickok with the time restriction.
