Probably about 30,000. Hey, I like that new car smell (which will probably give me cancer someday, but what won’t anymore).
My dad & sister put over 750,000 on a '79 VW Rabbit.
I put 240K each on a couple of 4Runners; an '89 and a '98.
I have about 70 thou on my 2001 Lincoln Town Car. If I can keep my wife from bumping into things ,I may have it for a while. It seems to run very well.
I put 60,000 miles over 4 years on a 1988 Nissan Sentra that I bought from a buddy for $400. I was driving home from work when the engine started making a horrendous racket, was down on power, and 30 seconds later it fantastically grenaded itself with coolant and oil instantly spraying on the hot exhaust manifold. Instant smoke cloud, and instant dead engine. The whole side of the engine block was opened up and emptied out. I still have a piece of a piston that blew out.
The mileage when it died: 199,890.
My $400 Sentra had the best air conditioner of any car I’ve ever owned.
1987 Plymoth Voyager with 3.0 v6 bought new. Gave it away with 358,000 ,miles on it. Regular tune ups and oil changes. Only major work Rebuilt trans at 72,000. New timing belt at 92,000.
I can’t find a cite, but IIRC, 25+ years ago Guinness had an entry for a 1936 Ford that had logged over 2 million miles on the original drivetrain.
I put 150K on my first Nissan pickup. The second one made it to 230K before it started to make me worry. I’ve only got 130K on the latest one (2000 Frontier), so I think I’m good for a few more years.
I’ve got about 209,000 on my '99 Jeep Cherokee.
I got 369,000 out of a Saab 900. It still ran fine but the body was rotten.
265,000 on a 87 Astro - sold it in 95 for $2,000
220,000 ish on 2001 Pathfinder. I knew it was dying, and it died on the road like a trooper.
330,000 miles on a 91 Ford Ranger, starting to look a little rough but still runs fine, I don’t worry about taking it out for 600+ mile weekend trips. Bought it new, the first car I ever bought ( I bought my second new car two years ago)
It doesn’t burn oil at all. Leaking is another matter, but I figure that really just ends up as rustproofing on the underside.
Two years ago it passed Texas emissions test. Not sure that says much as I don’t know how tough Texas is on emissions, but no test reading was more that 30% of the allowable levels so I guess that’s pretty good. I’m piling miles on a 01 Hyundai Accent now (a baby at 147,000 miles) because it get’s twice the fuel mileage as the ford, but the ford is my favorite.
160,000 in 7 years on a 1984 Camaro.
I wish I still had that car. Finest handling car I’ve ever owned.
Maybe I’ll start one about lowest miles on a car currently owned. I have two strong contenders for that one.
