Don’t remember any as a kid but in our neighborhood, there was one guy who gave our kids cans of Coke. You can’t get too many of those without getting weighed down but that was pretty cool. Then there was a dentist who gave out (gag) toothbrushes.
When I was a kid, the guy who owned the local candy store would give out packs of trading cards for Halloween. He would set up the same displays he would normally sell in his store and each kid would be able to take one. He had sports ones but I never took those. I would grab packs of the movie cards.
What made them funny - handles a both ends? Pressure activated squid ink injectors? Razor sharp bristles?
I may be looking for ideas for this year…
One guy in the neighborhood where I grew up gave out pencils every year my trick-or-treat route included his house.
