Most useless kitchen gadget/utensil/appliance you got suckered into buying?

The Rule is that I don’t buy ANYTHING that needs to be washed by hand, if it needs to be washed every time I use it. Rinsing is included in washing. I am not interested in doing any hand laundry, or any hand dishwashing. I especially don’t buy stuff that I don’t need if it requires hand washing.

You and me both. Yes, I have some things that MUST be hand washed - the fancy wine glasses come to mind. But overall, nothing new comes into my house that must be washed by hand. Blech. Life is too short. If I had my way, I’d have two dishwashers.

Anyway, what I really came in here to say is that I have the bunny & bear set of egg presses, and never noticed the “hand wash” thing, so have been happily running them through the dishwasher for over a year now with no problem. I’ll do the same with the heart & star when I get them. If they eventually break from rough handling, who cares? At $3/set, I can afford to buy new ones every few years if need be.

But truly, I don’t see the issue with washing them in the dishwasher. They’re plastic, for crying out loud. What can possibly happen?

I bought a coffee bean grinder about 10 years ago with the idea that I would try some of “bean only” blends the store has. It is still sitting unopened under the kitchen sink.

I don’t think we’re discussing actually useful things that you don’t use. You should try it some time; it does make a difference.
