This is another reason I have cameras front and rear. People do stupid shit, if you don’t have evidence or the Pope as a passenger, things can get troublesome…
Warning: Pedestrians do get hit, but slowly, and they get right up. Any injuries would be slight from the look of things.
I can’t find a story with details, but Grandma’s looking right, and the street appears to be one-way. At least all the cars are pointed this way. I think Yuri fucked up, but Grandma still should have looked both ways.
I walk all over the place, all the time, and I always look both ways, regardless of whether it’s a one-way street or not - you don’t know what’s going to be coming up the street at you. Pedestrians are presumed to be in the right here (which I don’t agree with), but you still have to be responsible for your own safety.
What’s up with the sudden Russian dash cam craze? This is the third thread featuring those that I’ve seen in the last couple of days (the other two are merged here).
That’s not a complaint, mind. They’re absolutely hilarious.
From what I’ve read, car accident fraud is rampant in Russia so lots of people have installed dashboard cameras so they will have evidence in the event of an accident. Stuff like someone sitting in front of another car at a red light puts their car in reverse and backs into a car and then claims that person rear-ended them and wants to get paid.
Having one in the rear helps as well. [Insert ass joke here]
Once, while slowing down to turn in to my bank, the woman behind me was on her phone and doing something to her hair with her rear-view mirror aimed at her. When she saw I had virtually stopped in front of her, she locked up her brakes, and 4 cars plowed into her from behind. I shook my head, and pulled into the parking lot just a few feet away.
While I was gathering my things, she came screaming over to me that I had cause this accident, and had fled the scene. She’s calling the cops! This is all my fault!
I told her I’d be going in the bank now, and if the police needed me, I’d be there.
A few minutes later, a cop has all 5 cars pulled into the lot across the street, so I went over to chat. I asked him if he needed me for anything. He said the first woman claimed I changed lanes in front of her, cutting her off, and caused the pile up, but no one else saw it, so he dismissed her out of hand. I showed him the video of her doing her hair while on the phone, and he added ‘making false statements’ and something else, I forget. It’s been a while.
Had even one more person agreed with her to try and absolve themselves, I could have been in a spot.
