Ok. So – my mom has requested that for mother’s day I arrange to get the whole fam together and do a series of portraits. Egads! Has anyone had to do portraits lately? So far I’m eying Sears because their website showed some impressive options and I had a couple friends who recently used them for a portrait and said they were awesome, really nice, and did great photos. Anyone have experience wtih this?
Thanks.
I’ve used the department store photographers for kids’ pictures, and they’ve been okay. However, when it comes to getting the once-in-a-decade type of family pictures that you’re talking about, I’ve been most satisfied with a local real photographer. I don’t know where you are, but it might be worthwhile to talk to some more people to get a variety of recommendations. The department store photos are typically very generic and the backgrounds tend to be a bit cheesy. If your particular Sears has a good photographer, it might be an exception, but I’ve always found the dedicated photography studio to be far, far superior to the Sears-types.
The cost could get pretty steep if I do that though. I don’t want the cheapest possible or anything, but I have a feeling this will become a regular thing so it might be nice to find a place where they have specials and deals and good packages. I"ve been asking around over the weekend and a few of my friends were actually really keen on Sears studio so I might just go down myself and check it out before I take the whole fam. I have to go anyway so I might as well meet the photographer and check out the props in person. All I konw is online looks like it might be right up my alley. Man my mom is gonna dig these photos once complete! Time’s a tickin though! lol. At least I haven’t waited til the last moment!
