And eastern Canada
And Ohio.
I’ve never heard this one before either. I’ve heard some of the others, but not all of them.
I’ve never heard that particular euphemism. I’ve lived in 4 states and traveled throughout Europe several times. I’m 48, btw (as if that matters).
I’d say it’s not in common use here in IL. YMMV.
Another Illinoisan chiming in to say that I’ve never heard that expression before. I thought that not using the handicapped stall unless you needed it (wheelchair, small child, etc) was a given.
Gee, I mean it’s just such a cute metaphor, makes me wonder what the hell I’ve been doing all my life that I haven’t heard of it before. I guess my friends have never been clever enough to come up with such creative descriptions for taking a shit.
You forgot “having a brown baby boy” and “making brownies”.
Incidentally I’ve heard ‘dropping kids off at the pool’ numerous times, and I would have said it was a common expression. I’m sure **Autolycus **wasn’t trying to be obscure, especially since the topic of the thread was rather well established at that point.
Obligatory xkcd.
Ha ha, just heard the “dropping the kids at the pool” expression on Friday Night Lights, and naturally thought of this thread.
I’m behind in the episodes. Did they use it to mean pools or toilets?
This is what happens when people fail to watch Space Ghost Coast to Coast. ::shakes head sadly:: If only you’d watch that show, you would have learned this expression in your mid-30s.
I’m betting toilets. It’s always toilets. How many times have I come tearing down the stairs, grasping my bathing suit and towel because I heard my dad remark to my mom, “Whelp. Time to drop the kids off at the pool” only to find my dad standing in his boxer shorts, grimacing and rubbing his belly with one hand and gripping the newspaper in the other.
I have a cold, and you just gave me a coughing fit from laughing.
Toilets. If it was literally dropping kids off to swim, then it wouldn’t be an expression, you know?
One of the coaches was talking to the Special Teams players, and said when Special Teams comes on the field, that’s when people go get something to eat and drop the kids at the pool. lol.
The latter part of this thread has made me laugh until I was “touching cloth”. The tortoise’s head has poked out.
Jesus, two pit threads and now you’re all mean?
Prairie Doggin’
As is “a pressing engagement” ![]()
Oh dear, in my head that didn’t sound mean. I guess I should have added a :).
