mourning the kitty (links to your cute photos please!)

My condolences on your lost. We lost C’Nedra at the age of 20 last year. Jackson was only two when he died, about six months later. We still have Missy and we recently took in Bob to keep us company.

Yoshimi got you some flowers, but… You know the rest.

Missy’s haircut is hysterical!

I had two cats in a studio. It wasn’t bad at all–they slept on top of each other anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

I really like having more than one. The only time I’ve ever had one at a time was when one died. And the surviving kitty cried until we adopted a friend for her.

Rachael, we didn’t intend to get the two boy kitties (who are litter mates). But almost a year ago we lost our black kitty, Sammie (no pix because he really just looked like a blob in the pictures, I think he had three white hairs on his lower belly).

But we felt really cheated because Sammie was only 14 months old and ended up having feline infection peritonitis. Our vet (who was fantastic) asked that when we were ready to get another kitty to consider looking at his office first. We live in midtown in KC, and apparently a lot of people just dump their unwanted cats and dogs at our vet’s office.

So we did. We needed to find a younger male kitty since the remaining (female) kitty at home wasn’t very fond of her species. We figured she would do better with a younger male cat. Well she got two younger male cats, and she’s done just fine.

I share your concerns about living space size and the number of cats in a home. Right now we live in a huge old house in KC, and are downsizing to a teeny tiny apartment in Boston in about a month. I think my kitties may go insane or they may drive the downstairs neighbor nuts with their thunderkitty ways.

Good luck–your next kitty will be lucky to have someone like you.

But did you have another person too? 1 room + 2 people + 2 cats seems like quite a crowd. But then again two people and no cat strains the seams as it is. I don’t suppose adding a second cat would be that huge of a deal. It’s not like adding a third person.

As someone who has adopted 2 adult cats I can definitely vouch for the fact that they get just as attached as kittens and are a lot less troublesome.

Raja was abandoned when my neighbors graduated college and left town without him. He was a bit stand-offish at first, but has slowly become a Lap Attachment.

Lucy was a shelter cat. I believe that the only reason she wasn’t adopted earlier was because she was in a bottom outdoor cage and no one noticed her. Look for the cats that aren’t in obvious places because there can be some gems hiding in there. She was there for five months before I adopted her. She is the sweetest cat I have ever had and a total cuddle slut (it’s quite shameless really) from day one.

I have included the required pics but I am not responsible for any cuteness overload that may occur.
