The idea is to have this paragraph, which skips the backstory of why I’m posting and instead gets straight to the what, will be the text displayed in mousover despite being the second paragraph in the OP. It would be useful to know roughly how many chararacters mouseover preview displays, so I’m adding extra text here.
First let me begin with some backstory about why I’m asking this question. You see, it all started with some irrelevant minutia from way back when, which planted an idea in my head. And now, when my intro finally starts to sound like I might get to the point, the mouseover preview runs out.

One thing I have noticed is that the mouseover displays differently on different machines. I had a thread that started with one sentence that I thought would appear by itself in the mouseover. When I checked it from a different computer, it displayed much more of the post.

I like your approach though, mind if I use it?

If not for the font in the word “Guest” and the extra length in the break line, that would’ve completely fooled me. :slight_smile:

I’ve seen similar inconsistency.

Of course I don’t mind if anyone uses the technique from the OP. It was just a random idea that occurred to me. As a dialup user, anything that makes mouseover preview more useful is aces in my book.

Oh yeah, nice sock puppet trick. If only you could paint the “Quote” button in the bottom right corner…

Let me clarify: The message above – which is not a formal warning – is directed at SixSwords; actually, it’s also a note for anyone who would like to craft something on the board that looks sock puppet-y.
