I’ve been having a strange reaction that may be an allergy. My general doctor thinks it’s just seasonal allergies. We had this conversation:
“So how long have you lived out here?”
“About 5 years now”
“Yeah, that’s what they say - seasonal allergies show up in the fifth year”
“Uh, really? Never heard of that…”
“Well now you have”
Is there anything to that? That suddenly allergies pop up out of nowhere after 5 years in a place? Sounds strange to me.
Never heard that before, but I think that’s about when my allergies started. Actually, more like year 6 or 7. No one’s ever asked how long I’ve lived here–in Minnesota, it’s assumed everyone’s lived here their whole lives. My husband has developed allergies as an adult, too.
Went back to my old area for a visit one summer, and I could immediately tell the difference in my breathing.
