This was the first movie I heard of being colorized. Ted Turner made a big deal about it in some TV ads showcasing the new technology. To me, everyone looked like they fell out of a pastel crayon factory. Colorizing any movie, especially classic film noir, is just wrong .

The exception that proves the rule. The idea all along was that it would be hand tinted, but they released it in black and white and opted for another colorization method later.
