The first movie you ever saw in a theater (that you remember)
Return of the Jedi
I was 6 years old. It was for a neighbor’s birthday party, I think. And at that showing, during the lightsaber fight between Luke and Vader in the dark, the projector failed and the screen just went black. No explanation from the theater staff, we just sat there for like 10 minutes. Eventually it came back on, but a bunch of people had already left. I wonder if they thought that was the end of the movie.

Sleeping Beauty
The 1959 Disney film. I was five. I remember more about the elegance of the theater than the movie: the lush red velvet seats, the huge red curtains that opened before the picture started and all the goldwork in the decoration. And popcorn.

Sleeping Beauty
The Shaggy Dog
The Sword in the Stone
Probably in early 1964, when I would have been seven. That was in a fancy indoor sit-down theater(as opposed to our local drive-in) that we had to drive all the way into town for too!

(If drive-ins count) Million Dollar Duck (If they don’t) Mary Poppins
The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams
The Legend of Boggy Creek
Documentary-type movie about a bigfoot creature fairly local to my hometown. I guess my parents wanted me and my sister to know what we might run into if we ever found ourselves wandering around in the woods near Texarkana.
