I love Tolkien; I loved Peter Jackson’s adaptations of The Lord of the Rings. I gritted my teeth through some of the weirdness of An Unexpected Journey, but at the end of Desolation of Smaug, I turned to my wife, and said, “You have got to be fucking kidding me!” (I never bothered to see the third one.)

I’m with you, kenobi. The LOTR movies were great; the Hobbit movies too often felt like overstuffed video games.

I knew it was a love story before I got dragged to it, but the warning didn’t help the time pass. It was also the last movie I saw in a theater.
