But they never make it to the Pacific in the film. Most of the action takes place in the Canal Zone. Interesting tidbit - the premise was originally about a Japanese plot to attack Hawaii, but the real Pearl Harbor attack occurred during filming, so the fictional attack target was switched to the Panama Canal.

That’s too bad - the book was very good, and IIRC, was set in Paraguay and Argentina, not Central America.
